Kalo Chorio

Kalo ChorioIf you’re interested in a quiet, relaxing, leisurely and scenic holiday experience on your visit to the island of Crete in Greece, the village and resort of Kalo Chorio may be just what you’re looking for. If you want a smaller, intimate resort on the north coast of Crete with great beaches and more and you’d like to avoid the bigger, livelier and more developed resorts scattered across this northern coastal region of Crete, Kalo Chorio—a huge contrast to most of its neighbors—is a great choice. Situated on Crete’s north coast, six miles southeast of Agios Nikolaos and east of capital Heraklion, beautiful Kalo Chorio has only a modest assortment of shops, cafés and tavernas. You will find the shopping is quite limited; however, the resort does have a great market selling local produce including fruit, cheese and nuts. It also is not the place to stay if you’re looking for loud and lively parties. Nightlife is quiet and lazy in a few small tavernas with locals. However, Agios Nikolaos, a busy harbor town renowned for its shopping variety and livelier nightlife, is only six miles and a quick drive up the coast. So if you’re interested in a more relaxing and scenic holiday but would like one or two getaway evenings in a nearby town to party, Kalo Chorio is still the place to go. Kalo Chorio, built on a hillside, provides amazing and eye-catching views of the coast and offers several beautiful, impressive and popular sandy beaches, ideal for sunbathing, gorgeous views and swimming. There are three main beaches to choose from, and all can be reached on foot in easy walking distance from the resort. However, as the beaches are Kalo Chorio’s main attraction, they can get quite crowded during the summer months. Besides visiting Agios Nikolaos while in Kalo Chorio, you can take a boat trip to visit nearby islands, such as the famous island of Spinalonga, or other destinations such as Knossos Palace and Heraklion
